Even the tallest person…we’re all lowly before the High King.

If you’ve ever met me in person, you know I’m a bit on the short side of height (5' 0"). Knowing that our God and King is intentional about every detail of who we are…from our height, skin tone, hair length, to hair color, I know there is a reason.
Growing up at public schools and in social circles, it wasn't easy trying to accept this design. I would often receive comments inquiring why I was so small, and people wore the look of underestimation when they saw me. But as time has gone on and I’ve looked around society when going out, I realized that even the biggest, most tall man and woman here on earth are actually lowly in relation to our God.
It is so easy for us to walk around in life considering ourselves in comparison to those around us, but my perspective completely changed when I read the Bible and realized that God looks down on us as if we’re all the size of grasshoppers! "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." (Isaiah 40:22)
When I feel lowly in relation to those around me, I find comfort in the fact that the mightiest in height, position, and authority are actually subject to the same King I am.
In the newfound acceptance born from knowing that an intentional Designer chose this height for me, I have actually experienced more grace...from myself and God!
It was hard to accept myself when I didn’t accept my Father who made me this way.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, God alters our thinking from our ideas of what is good to His right view of good (and it's actually perfect!). He also changes His view of us from wrath to grace because of Jesus Christ's innocent sacrifice for our sins.
I have found that grace produces confidence within us because we are no longer burdened by the expectation and inability to be perfect. Now I go to the extent to call myself little one, for that is how my Father in heaven views me with the utmost love and grace. He doesn't look down on me like the world does.
Be encouraged, Lowly Daughter.
Lowly Daughter Lessons:
Don't be discouraged when the world looks down on you. You are an heir of the perfect, holy King!
Remember that the seemingly big, powerful ones of this world are yet lowly and small before the King. We have nothing to fear.
Recall that the Lord looks upon you with grace and sees you as a dear little one.
Go about this world with confidence because your Father has forgiven you.
In love,
Your lowly daughter Julia
Be confident. Be fearless. But remember to be humble.
"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
